The central government has asked all states and UTs to identify children orphaned due to Covid-19. They were told to identify and then register them on the online portal set by it.
To identify the beneficiaries of PMCARES fund, announced by the PM lately to provide financial aid to the destitute, it has launched www.pmcareforchildren.in and states are told to register each on it.
This aid will cover children who lost both parents or the lone surviving or legal or adoptive parent because of Covid.
As per the scheme, an amount of ₹10 lakh will be given to each till they reach 23 years of age. This is excluding the school education and health insurance help. It came into effect from March 11.
